He offers her money for trying to take her by force but of course our little heroine refuses his very generous offer. Gervase accepts the offer thinking Elizabeth is to sleep with him but boy oh boy was he wrong. We find out later that she has being offered up like this quite a few times. Her step dad owes the duke a considerable amount of money and so offers up Elizabeth’s services to him. We meet the hero working undercover at Elizabeth’s house. Overall loved the chemistry between Elizabeth and Gervase or the Duke of Diable Delamere. The mystery aspect of the book kept if from being overly romantic and cheesy. Its always nice to see how each of the characters interpret things. One of the things I loved the most was that we get to see both the hero and the heroines points of view. The flow of the novel was marvellous and not a dull moment in sight! The pace was well set and the hero is one of those characters you instantly fall in love with regardless of his mistakes. Kate Pearce’s Educating Elizabeth was an enjoyable read and I finished it in 2 days.
